Many bands came out of the San Francisco area during the late 60s, but Quicksilver Messenger Service typified the style, attitude and sound of the era more than any of them. Although that music period was filled with many musicians of similar styles, in my opinion, Quicksilver was the greatest jam band of the acid-rock scene. It has been said that if a "who's who" of that musical time period had existed, Quicksilver would certainly have ranked high in this category. The chief curator for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with the help of music writers and critics, selected 500 songs (not only rock songs) that they believe have been most influential in shaping rock and roll. It was no surprise that the music of Quicksilver Messenger Service was among these chosen .
